The second lecture of the Spring series will be presented by Seamus Roe, a long-standing Council member and Hon. Secretary of the Society. In this lecture, Seamus will explore the history of Nursery Cross.
The interest of the Foster family of Collon in horticultural pursuits included the establishment of the Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin in 1795 by John Foster. Their horticultural ambitions were also evident on their own estates. The ‘nursery’ from which Nursery Cross derives its name was established by the Fosters in order to cultivate trees.
The lecture will be held in Collon Church of Ireland (Eircode A92 K168) on Thursday 11 April at 8 p.m.
All are welcome. Voluntary donations at the door are welcome to support the work of the Society.
The lecture will be recorded and made available on the Society’s YouTube channel. Details will be added here when available.
