Ms Jean Young will present a lecture about the Bellew family of Barmeath in the 1820s. The lecture will be based on the letters written in this period by Lady Bellew from Barmeath to her daughter, Lady Smythe, in England.

Jean is a PhD candidate at Maynooth University who is researching the experiences of the Bellew family as a Catholic landed family under the penal laws of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
The lecture will be held on Tuesday 13 April 2021 at 7.30 p.m.
