Visit to Inishkeen, Co. Monaghan

Visit to Inishkeen, Co. Monaghan

The Society is organising a visit to Inishkeen, Co. Monaghan, on Thursday 30 July 2026 at 2.00 pm.

A short walking tour of the village will be led by Society council members Don Johnston and John Rafferty. This will start from McNello’s pub in the village and will include the Old Railway Station.

This will be followed by a visit to The Patrick Kavanagh Centre in Inishkeen, which houses an exhibition honouring the life, writing, and continuing legacy of one of Ireland’s greatest poets. There will be a short talk and film followed by a guided visit to Patrick Kavanagh’s grave by Shaun O’Byrne of The Patrick Kavanagh Centre. There will be plenty of time to spend at the centre to visit the Patrick Kavanagh Experience (self-guided) through artefacts, multimedia, text and film.

The total cost is €10 payable on the day.

For numbers, please let us know if you plan to join us.
