The speaker for this lecture is architectural historian Dr Aisling Durkan. Her PhD in History of Art and Architecture, awarded by Trinity College in 2020, was a study of the mercantile domestic architecture of Drogheda in the eighteenth century.
In this lecture she will focus on the impact of maritime trade on Drogheda’s architecture. This focus was the topic for a chapter she contributed to the book Sea and Settlement in Ireland (eds. Geraldine Stout and Matthew Stout), published by Four Courts Press in 2024.
The lecture will be held in the Boyne Valley Hotel in Drogheda (Eircode A92 EY89) on Thursday 30 October 2024 at 8 p.m.
