This lecture by Kevin McKenny will discuss the history of the Corporation of Atherdee (or Ardee) from the thirteenth century until its dissolution in 1840 and show how three families, the Parkinsons, the Ruxtons and William Parkinson Ruxton came to dominate it. Much of the lecture is derived from the original Minute Books of the Corporation.

Kevin is a graduate of Maynooth University and holds a PhD in History from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has written and published extensively on seventeenth-century Irish history.
