The Society is organizing an afternoon visit to the Blackfriary Archaeology Field School in Trim, Co. Meath. This is a great opportunity to see an active archaeological dig in operation and to learn about the history of the site.
The tour leaders for this event are archaeologists and CLAHS council members Laura Corrway, a co-founder and director of the Blackfriary school, and Mark McConnon, a post-excavation supervisor for the school.
The visit will be at 3pm on Wednesday 16 July 2025.
Suitable footwear is advised and possibly rain wear depending on weather conditions. Please be advised that the field is bumpy and uneven in parts, so may pose some difficulty for mobility. However, Mark will have a ‘finds’ table set up at the cabins near the entrance which is very accessible, so those who wish may opt to view the finds.
