Our final lecture for 2024 will be presented by Dr Gillian Kenny and is titled Women in Conflict: Understanding Agency and Vulnerability in Medieval and Early Modern Ireland.
The paper will examine the dual aspects of women’s experiences during warfare — both as active participants and as victims.
Dr Gillian Kenny is an adjunct associate professor at the Department of History at UCD and a Research Associate at the Centre for Gender and Women’s Studies at Trinity College Dublin. Her specialism is women’s lives in medieval and early modern Ireland and beyond. She is also interested in the lives of those considered outsiders in the medieval world. She has taught in both UCD and TCD and has appeared in and written on various historical topics both on TV and in newspapers/magazines as well as working on her own books and papers.
The lecture will be held online via Zoom on Thursday 5 December 2024 at 8.00p.m.
